We view her as one of the most influential African Americans in the 20th century. What we don't know is the many struggles she faced that got her to this point. This woman we see on the television is the same woman who got raped at the age of four, pregnant when she was 14 years old, and got abused by her family, which led to her running away from home. Because of Oprah’s courageous life and journey, she remains an influential leader and active part of today’s society. Her life models that of anyone who is currently going through financial and social hardship and sends people a message that anything is possible.
